Language
Arts – Our scarecrow portraits are now finished!
We will be working hard in the next week to describe our scarecrows in writing
– developing the skill of describing story critical characters in our writing
will help students show readers what they are thinking through writing.
Near the end of this month we will write our first story using the writing
techniques we’ve been studying thus far. We can’t wait to share our writing
with you!
Math
– Currently we are looking at how to represent
numbers in different ways. We are also
extending our knowledge of increasing & decreasing patterns to look at 3
& 4 –digit numbers and the patterns our number system has. We will be
moving from this into addition later this month.
Social
Studies – The students have been really engaged in our
discussions and study of quality of life in Canada and the four countries we
are studying this year (Peru, Ukraine, Tunisia & India). As Remembrance Day
approaches students will also be applying what they’ve learned to quantify the
sacrifices our troops have made in order to make our country safe.
Science
– We are very lucky! As we wrap up our Rocks & Minerals unit we have been able to
complete many experiments as well as make our own crystals! The
test for this unit will be Thurs., Nov. 10th (A study guide and
handout with tips about preparing for tests sent home Tues.)
