A Peek at Our Weeks

A Peek at Our Weeks
Language Arts – Our class has finished learning about the different genres of books found in our classroom and school libraries. The class is currently learning the writing process, starting with a project which focuses on elaborative detail. We look forward to sharing our work with you during parent/teacher interviews this month.
Math – The students have been learning how to extend, create and describe both increasing and decreasing patterns in numbers.  We have moved on to number sense beginning with place value.
Social Studies – As we explore cultural identity further we have begun to look at what people value in their community. After looking at our own community the class has begun to look at the values of communities in other parts of the world such as, Peru and Ukraine.
Science – Exploring Rocks and Minerals has been exciting for the students so far! We are now learning about minerals and their structures.  We will be moving on to learning about the rock cycle in the next few weeks.
Religion – Our Bible studies this month have helped the students learn more about God’s word. Students are discovering their Baptismal story and will also be learning about the Tabernacle and delve more deeply into what it means to be a member of God’s family.
Health – We have covered so much thus far! Students learned safety procedures for fire drills and lock downs. We studied germs, their transmission and what proper hygiene looks like. We are currently looking at relationships and discussing ways in which students can ask for help.
